Radbrook Nursing Home, Shrewsbury, was granted the highest level of recognition with a Gold award, the only nursing home in the county to receive the accolade. Two other Morris Care homes, Stretton Hall, All Stretton, and Isle Court, Bicton, were both awarded Silver.

Nurse Manager at Radbrook Nursing Home, Sue Austin, said of the accolade: “My staff go to extraordinary levels to ensure that best practice is always applied at Radbrook, and it is wonderful that this has been recognized by Shropshire PCT.”

All three care homes were given their accolades after a rigorous examination by the PCT, which also observed Morris Care’s policies, staff training and staff at work during their time at the care homes.

Nursing homes can only receive the recognition if they are judged to take exceptional measures taken to prevent the spread of infection, and only establishments rated above 91% on all of these criteria are awarded Silver whilst those awarded Gold must rate above 95%.

Timothy Morris, Director at Morris Care, said of the award: “Here at Morris Care we take the safety of our residents very seriously, and we are completely committed to performing to the highest possible standards.

“We are very proud of the staff at Radbrook, Isle Court, Stretton Hall for all of their hard work in achieving these awards, and we are pleased to be able to reassure residents and their families of the utmost levels of safety and care during their stay with us.”

Morris Care owns and runs six nursing homes in Shropshire and Cheshire, offering the very best in quality nursing care. For more information on Morris Care Homes visit www.morriscare.co.uk.
