Tranmere V Shrewsbury

Table-toppers they may be, but Mickey Mellon is still demanding more from his troops. He told BBC Radio Shropshire, that they need to “roll up their sleeves and fight” against a depleted Tranmere Rovers outfit.

There are no new injury concerns for Shrewsbury. Andy Mangan, is making good progress with his recurring knee injury, and may return in the next 2-3 weeks. James Wesolowski is the only long term absentee.

Keith Southern, is available again after serving his three match ban. Scott Vernon, is likely to keep his place ahead of Akpa-Akpro and Mandron – the ex Aberdeen front man was impressive against AFC Wimbledon last time out.

Amazingly, Jayson Leutwiler has kept 20 clean sheets in 39 appearances –more than any other goalkeeper in Europe.

Shrewsbury’s record at Prenton Park leaves a lot to be desired. They have only won once in 43 years.

Tranmere have a couple of injury concerns. Striker Cole Stockton (hernia) and defender Marcus Harness (knee) are awaiting surgery. Former Wolves defender Matt Hill, has an achillies problem and is likely to miss out. But there is some positive news for Rovers – Michael Ihiekwe may return – he has missed the last five games with an ankle injury. Tranmere are 22nd in League Two, and are only outside the relegation places on goal difference. They lost 2-0 at York in their last game.
