Galliford Try Partnerships will be building the properties, which will include 36 affordable homes for The Wrekin Housing Trust and 36 market sale homes sold under the Group’s Linden Homes brand. The new site is located next to Lightmoor View.
The Wrekin Housing Trust’s affordable homes will include two and three bedroom family houses as well as one bedroom apartments to help those affected by the ‘bedroom tax’ move to smaller properties. All of the Trust’s properties will be built to meet high levels of energy efficiency, resulting in cheaper bills for Trust residents who move to the site.
As well as providing more homes to meet the demand for affordable housing in Telford & Wrekin, the Trust’s 36 homes will create over £10m worth of value to the economy and over 80 jobs including 3 apprenticeships on site.
Sarah Flaherty, Project Manager for The Wrekin Housing Trust, said: “We’re really pleased that planning has been granted and we look forward to starting on site before the end of the year. These new build properties will offer our residents a comfortable, energy efficient home in a great location at an affordable rent”.
The first homes will be complete during 2015.
