As a team they managed to cycle 153 miles over the course of the day – the equivalent of cycling from the shopping centre to Glastonbury – and raised an outstanding £764.27 for the charity.

All the funds raised will go towards The Body Shop’s chosen charity, Teenage Cancer Trust. Six people aged between 13 and 24 are diagnosed with cancer every day and the charity is dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival.

The charity develops specialist units within NHS hospitals to ensure young cancer patients are treated by teenage cancer experts, in an environment tailored for them. It also provides much needed support to teenagers with cancer and their families.

Laura Phillips, Manager at The Body Shop Telford, said: “We have been looking forward to the fundraising event for the last few weeks and the day itself proved to be just as rewarding as we hoped it would be. Whilst cycling for nine hours wasn’t an easy task it was all worthwhile knowing the money was going to a worthy cause. On behalf of the team I would like to thank all the shoppers who donated and supported us throughout the day.”

Chris Jones, Centre Director at Telford Shopping Centre, said: “We are so pleased with the amazing fundraising efforts of The Body Shop team. We are always proud of the generosity of our visitors and look forward to more activities from the stores team in the near future.”
