The Making were one of the two winners of Telford & Wrekin Council’s Band Slam competition, which earned them a place on the T-Live bill supporting pop rock giants McFly.

The band got a fantastic reception from the Telford crowd for their performance in the QEII Fields In Trust Town Park Arena, when they opened Saturday’s event.

Band managers Russell Lowe and Sam Pownall said afterwards: “We would like to say thanks to everyone that helped with the preparation and production of Band Slam, the days leading up to T-Live, the brilliantly managed stage and of course Telford & Wrekin Council for putting on the gig.

“It was great that local bands were given a chance to perform in front of their local crowd. In our opinion, it was a brilliant effort for the first major gig in the arena.

“We would also like to thank the other artists on the bill, especially McFly, for allowing us the opportunity to share the same stage.

“On the whole, the day was a massive success. Every band starts somewhere and I intend for this band to soar to new heights after this.

“I always said that getting this band in front of a large audience would prove they had the material and the talent to shine through.

“I feel this is just the start of a fresh rejuvenated music scene in Telford and the surrounding area.”

Telford & Wrekin Council leader Councillor Kuldip Sahota said: “We have had fantastic feedback from all the bands and we are truly proud that local acts The Making and Madison were part of our first T-Live.

“Both delivered excellent performances and acquitted themselves extremely well with both the public and the media. They can be truly proud of themselves and both played a key part in the success of T-Live.”
