They want to hear from anyone who may have seen a male with the woman near the Severn Stars pub in Coleham Head at around 2am on Saturday, November 27.

Detective Sergeant Mark Hill said: “We are investigating a serious sexual assault which happened in the early hours of November 27. The victim is a teenager, over the age of 16.

“We believe she may have been forcibly taken from the area of the Severn Stars to a nearby location on the main footpath in Old Coleham , opposite the Castle pub.”

He said the teenager was not seriously hurt.

DS Hill added “We are anxious to hear from anyone who was in the vicinity at the time who may seen some suspicious activity possibly related to this incident. I would appeal to them to contact Shrewsbury CID on 0300-333-3000.”

A 16-year-old youth has been arrested in connection with the incident and given conditional police bail pending further inquiries.
