The building had remained empty since Geko went into administration with the loss of more than 70 jobs in May 2011 until property agents Brownwoods bought the building in 2012.
Now known as Maple House, on Queensway Business Park on Queensway, the building has been transformed into offices, training rooms, conference suites with state-of-the-art technology and facilities.
Landlords Brownwoods are now looking forward to attracting businesses into Maple House which can cater for start-up businesses from 100 sq ft to more established companies needing up to 1750 sq ft.
Bookkeeping business Cosgrove and Cosgrove Ltd, formerly based in Newport, have become the first tenants to move into Maple House after their large office suite alone had a further £75,000 spent on it.
Businesses from across the borough have already started hosting training courses and conferences at Maple House.
Mike Cosgrove, director of Cosgrove and Cosgrove Ltd, said the firm’s eleven members of staff were really enjoying their new fully refurbished offices on the first floor which have good views of the surrounding area. They are now looking forward to building the atmosphere in the building as more businesses move in making it the main “business centre” for the area.
“The refurbishment has been extensive and is already proving popular. We have already had a number of business owners viewing the facilities in the hope of moving in here on a permanent basis.
“It is an amazing transformation and with the bespoke art and décor, quality furnishings, accessibility and free parking we expect the offices to be snapped up very quickly,” Mr Cosgrove said.
“There are hundreds of SMEs in Telford which do not necessarily need such facilities on a full-time basis but whom can now hire the rooms and conference suites here at reasonable prices.”
Mr Cosgrove said he had further plans to offer new clients a fully integrated solution to include IT, telephone call handling, mailbox options, printing and stationary supplies, along with hot desk areas being made available for those that don’t necessarily warrant a permanent office of their own.
“Already since moving on to the business park we have referred business to each other, but once we have our own neighbours within Maple House we will also be able to refer to each other within the building – so many businesses can complement each other but yet people don’t necessarily realise that when you are in separate buildings.
“We are looking forward to a long, successful future here at Maple House and am looking forward to others joining us very soon.”
