Motorists are being warned of surface water, a number of Shropshire roads have standing water. In Shrewsbury the Battlefield link road is closed due to flooding on the carriageway.
A number of homes in north Shropshire were flooded this morning, properties in Market Drayton and Diksmuide Drive in Ellesmere were affected.
Personnel from Shropshire Fire & Rescue Service helped a farmer rescue sheep trapped by floodwater near Oswestry. They also assisted in helping prevent rising water affecting properties at Sanford, a crew from Whitchurch assisted the occupier of a property to open a sluice gate from a nearby overflowing pool.
An Environment Agency spokesperson said: “Emergency teams from the Environment Agency will be out in force throughout the weekend to shore up defences, monitor river levels and clear blockages from watercourses. Those in areas at risk should check the Environment Agency website for the latest information and sign up for free flood warnings on the Environment Agency’s website or by calling the Environment Agency Flood Line on 0845 988 1188.”

– Rivers Tern, Perry, Roden, Strine and Meese and their tributaries
At 10am today, the level at the Welsh Bridge Gauge in Shrewsbury was 2.03 metres and rising. The level at the Buildwas Gauge was 3.02 metres and rising.
