The 16-piece Naomi Payne Show Band has been drawn from local talent in and around Shropshire and performs a variety of music from the 20’s through to swing, popular jazz, 60’s hits and present-day classics.

The band repertoire includes American Patrol, Sunny Side of the Street, Route 66, James Bond themes, Motown and Abba.

Among the demos now available on MySpace and www.naomipayne.co.uk are ‘Crazy Rhythm’ a well known, foot tapping 1920’s number popular with the flappers of the jazz age, ‘I’ve Got The World On A String’ featuring a clarinet solo played by musician Jeff Matthews and ‘Why Don’t you do right?’ a classic blues song by Peggy Lee and also performed by Jessica Rabbit in the 1988 film Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

Naomi, of Edgton, near Craven Arms, said she hopes the music tasters will showcase the wide range of talent in the band.

She said: “My favourite is ‘Why Don’t You Do Right?’ as I am a big blues fan and although I love Peggy’s version of the song my favourite has to be Lil Green’s, one of the great female blues singers.

“These particular songs and instrumentals were chosen because they showcase both individuals and the band as a whole and we wanted a good variety of styles on the demo.

“People can listen to it on the Website or Myspace. There are also CDs available that can be sent out to people who are interested in booking us for their parties or venues.”
