Shropshire design agency celebrates 21st birthday

The party was a lively event and representatives from Source Design’s diverse range of clients were in attendance. Classic Furniture, the company’s first and oldest from 1991, furnished the London Olympic Village eateries and was one of three clients servicing this year’s Olympics with their products. Shropshire Petals provided wheat sheaves for the Olympic presentation bouquets and The Wenlock Box Company made the wooden Olympic presentation boxes containing the medals. Other party attendees from property, event consultation, healthcare, retail, farm produce and public relations socialised with champagne and canapés, supplied by Katy’s Pantry.

Managing director Sally Atkinson established Source Design in 1991. Although many changes have taken place over the past 21 years the business continues to maintain a healthy order book. This confidence in the future is underlined by the appointment of a new business development manager who will join the current team of nine.

Sally said: “In the beginning Source concentrated on designing print based marketing material such as adverts, brochures and posters for local companies. Now, however, with the emphasis on the internet and digital formats as primary marketing channels 60 per cent of our business is web-based and our client portfolio now covers the whole of the UK.”

Sally attributes the company’s success and longevity to a stable team, genuine enthusiasm for its clients, the ability to rise to an unusual design challenge and working in partnership with like-minded businesses that want to push the boundaries in their design approach.

“New clients often ask us to improve activity within their search engine optimisation, social media platforms and content management systems – enabling them to update their own websites. Good old-fashioned creative print however still has its place too.”

21st birthday party guest and client, Tim Barker of The Wenlock Box Company said: “As a new business when we came to Source, making the investment in a professional brand and website was pivotal to our success in securing several prestigious clients including the London Organising Committee who commissioned our wooden boxes for the Olympic and Paralympic Games.”
