HEART of ENGLAND fine foods (HEFF) has launched its annual West Midlands Tastiest Sausage Competition during British Sausage Week and is encouraging butchers from all across the region to enter their best bangers.

HEFF, the food group for the heart of England, is once again on a quest to find the tastiest breakfast sausage and tastiest speciality sausage in the West Midlands including Shropshire, Warwickshire, Staffordshire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Birmingham and Black Country.

The event, which is celebrating its tenth year, has been launched this week which is British Sausage Week (1-7 November), an event run by BPEX, the British Pig Executive, to celebrate quality pork sausages.

Butchers from across Shropshire can enter into two categories, Best Breakfast Sausage and Best Speciality Sausage. Entries close on Friday 7 January 2011. The competition is run in association with AGA and there will be a Sizzle-Off in three locations across the area to determine regional winners in both categories.

Shropshire butchers can enter the Sizzle-Off which will be held at the AGA store in Ketley, Telford, on Tuesday 18 January. The sausages will be cooked and taste-tested by a panel of judges who will select an area winner of the Best Breakfast and Best Speciality sausage. The winners will then go head to head against the other area winners at the Grand Final which will be held at AGA’s flagship store in The Mailbox on Thursday 27 January.

It costs just £10 to enter two sausage varieties into the competition and only £5 for additional entries.

To enter call the HEFF office on 01743 452818 or email office@heff.co.uk
