Wind and rain cause problems for Shropshire motorists

Tree’s were brought down in the wind causing diversions for motorists during the early morning rush hour.

In Shrewsbury, Frankwell car park remains closed today due to high water levels on the River Severn. Flood barriers have been erected in the Frankwell area but Shrewsbury is fully open for business.

Theatre Severn is open as normal for a pantomime performance later this afternoon, but customers are advised to arrive early and find alternative parking.

Gravel Hill Lane and Sydney Avenue in Shrewsbury are closed. The Atcham to Cross Houses road is also being monitored by Shropshire Council as to whether it needs to close later today.

The river level in Shrewsbury is currently at 3.1m and is expected to peak at 3.8m on Friday.
