The Big Day
The wedding day dawned and I was ready!
Everything went smoothly on the morning, there were hairdressers and make-up artists, mums, dads, nans, brothers from Spain, bridesmaids and all number of people wandering around but that just made it quite special.
We got a little behind schedule and left the house in our VW Camper Van borrowed from a friend and complete with wedding bow about 10 minutes late…..but that, of course, is a bride’s prerogative!
The ceremony went brilliantly, it was one of the really wonderful parts of the day, and we had a few pictures in and outside the church before heading to Hadley Park House in Telford.
There were pictures and more pictures and more pictures but despite all of it there were some I missed! The ones I just didn’t think about until after the day when I got the proofs…..
I did not pose on my own with my chief bridesmaid. She was busy running around and I just didn’t think of it. There was also no pictures of me with the girls on my hen do – one the photographer asked me about, I said no, and now I really wish I had.
But the photographs were beautiful and I didn’t mind the cold at all! It began to rain as we sat down for the wedding breakfast so the weather had held out as well.
The whole day was great and we really had a lot of fun but I think there are always things you wish you had done or not done!
I totally forgot to throw my bouquet……I did not even think about it in the run-up to the wedding at all, and neither did anyone else until the day after.
I had presents for a few guests who I went over to during my husband’s speech but I didn’t get time to say anything before I had to run back for the next one. I wish I had asked him to separate the thanks with a joke or something so I had time to say a few words to them and get back to my chair.
We had decided that we would use the first dance time to have a little chat with each other about the day so far as we stepped around the floor which we did…..but it meant I did not really savour the first dance experience and cannot remember it that well now – we should have done half and half!
And of course the usual ‘I didn’t get to speak to everyone I wanted to’. This is so true. You just don’t realise until you see all the pictures of everyone how many people you didn’t get to sit and natter with – some who had travelled quite far to be with you. There is no advice I can give about this because there are just not enough hours in the day!!!!
All in all, we had a brilliant time and as far as we know, so did everyone else. So it was a bit of sleep, some card-opening and then off to India on honeymoon…….
