Following the official launch of their Cinderella pantomime on Monday, the magic continued at Theatre Severn as a host of talented youngsters arrived for open auditions, hoping to join the cast of this year’s production.
Out to impress producers from Spillers Pantomimes, almost fifty hopefuls auditioned for twelve places on two female chorus teams. Local dance schools including Viv Kelly School of Dance, Centre Pointe, Miss Debbie’s and Gaston Payne were all well represented and after two hours of singing and dancing, the successful candidates were announced.
Joining the “Buttons” team will be Jodie Humphreys, Emily Ashford, Megan Austin, Daisy Wyatt, Libby Ashford and Daisy Kynaston, while Fleur Jones, Lauren Steele, Beth King, Emily Williams, Emily Porrett and Holly Britzman will make up the “Zip” team.
This year, Theatre Severn presents a classic fairytale as the audience meet Cinderella and Buttons, wonder at the magical Fairy Godmother and laugh and boo at the antics of the ugly sisters. The show sees Samantha Dorrance return to Shrewsbury in the lead role, following her success as Wendy in Peter Pan last year. Packed with magic, music and comedy, the show will be a treat for the whole family.
The pantomime will run between Thursday 2nd December and Monday 3rd January.
