Nick Pickles and Pat Pope have between them photographed everyone from Bowie to Oasis, Sigur Ros to Kasabian, the Red Hot Chilli Peppers to Beyonce to name a few.
Staged at The Hive in Shrewsbury, the evening was a preview for next year’s Shrewsbury International Festival of Photography, the first in the world to focus solely on music photography.
Having only been a music photographer himself for the last five years, Nick’s advice about how to get started in the business and his essential tricks of the trade were invaluable for the audience with lots of questions asked.
Pat’s career on the other hand spans 20 years and the crowd were totally enthralled not only by his images but also the anecdotes from working with music giants such as Sting, Kings of Leon and Morrissey.

Alex Hardie who is organising the festival said: “Not only was it exciting to welcome Nick and Pat to Shrewsbury but to share some of their memories and to chart their career’s from music fan to sought after photographer. I think it was a great indicator of the festival next May.â€
