Man robbed whilst walking in St Georges

At just after 11.15pm on Friday, as the victim walked along Gower Street he suddenly became aware of two unknown men behind him. Feeling a little uneasy the victim began to walk more quickly but the two men also then increased their pace.

Eventually the two men caught up with victim as he entered Stafford Street and one of the men then pulled out a knife and threatened him.

A police spokesman said: “While one of the men waved the knife at the victim the second man swiped a silver chain from around the victim’s neck and stole a silver bracelet and Sekonda watch off his wrist.

“The man also grabbed the victim’s Samsung Touch mobile phone before the two men then calmly walked away from the scene in the direction of Canongate.

“The victim – who is black – has been able to give officers descriptions of the two men that carried out this robbery. The man with the knife is described as being white, aged in his early 20s, around 5ft 4inches tall and as having a slim build. He is also described as wearing a plain black baseball cap, a black hooded top and tracksuit bottoms.

“The second man is described as being of mixed race, aged between 22 and 25, around 5ft 5inches tall and as having a medium build. He is also described as having a ‘round face’, a scar under his right eye, a tattoo on his neck and as wearing a grey hooded top and tracksuit bottoms.

“Anyone who believes they may have information about this robbery, or who witnessed any of the events leading up to it, is asked to call police in Telford on 0300 333 3000. Alternatively, please remember that information can also be left anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
