Hope House Tŷ Gobaith children’s hospices have launched their £50 Challenge, and this year are asking businesses and schools if they could help them hit the magic £50,000.

From their bases in Oswestry and Conwy, the hospices provide free respite, expert nursing care, therapeutic play and counselling to local children and families living with a life-threatening condition, and last year raised £44,000 with thew campaign.

Registration is now open for the social and fun challenge that can be great team building and all entrants will be fully supported by the enthusiastic fundraisers with ideas, banners and more, as event lead Bekki Fardoe explained: “This is our biggest and best year yet as we aim for £50,000.

“From March 2nd through until April 20th, we’re looking for 100 local business and educational establishments to take on our £50 Challenge.

“We will give you a £50 advance and the challenge is to see by how many times you can multiply that sum by in just 50 days!

“For the first time, we will also have a trophy to present to the team that raises the most from their investment. Will it be your team who takes this and becomes our Challenge Champion?

“We’ve seen everything from quiz nights to coffee mornings, from sponsored swims to car washes and our loyal supporters never cease to amaze us with their enthusiasm.

“It’s completely free to register and we’ll be behind you all the way as you help us to bring quality moments and lasting memories to local children and families facing an uncertain future whilst you fulfil your corporate social responsibility.

“Register on our website or call us now to get involved.”

One great example of how to make the challenge work for yourself and the charity was Handlesbanken of Wrexham, who last year raised an impressive £1,300.

Zoe Kempster, Assistant Banking Manager, shared: “The £50 Challenge is a great initiative that allowed us to make an investment without the worry of using our own money or having to dip into our final fundraising balance.

“It’s amazing how much we were able to raise from the original £50 investment and there’s so many possibilities to make that initial money grow.

“We hosted a fundraising corporate quiz night.

“In the end we turned our £50 into over £1,300 which we were so proud of. It’s so rewarding to be part of this fundraising initiative that raises a staggering amount of money – it just shows how every little helps!”
