Whittington Castle will come alive on Saturday 28 March, from 4 pm to 9 pm, as it hosts its inaugural charity fundraising event, marking an exciting new chapter for the historic site and the local community.

Set within the dramatic medieval surroundings of the castle, the event promises an immersive and entertaining evening for all ages. Designed to attract both thrill-seekers and spectators alike, the festival will feature a vibrant mix of artisan stalls, axe throwing, live music, historical re-enactments, and family-friendly activities throughout the grounds.
The undisputed highlight of the evening will be a charity firewalk, where participants will have the chance to walk barefoot across hot coals in a powerful display of courage, determination, and community spirit. The firewalk is open to individual participants, corporate teams, and those walking in support of a charity of their choice, making it an inclusive and highly adaptable fundraising challenge.
Spectators are warmly welcomed, with no requirement to take part in the firewalk to enjoy the event. The castle will be open to the public throughout the evening, creating a lively festival atmosphere where visitors can soak up live entertainment, explore stalls, and witness the firewalk experience first-hand.
The primary aim of the inaugural event is to raise £20,000 in its first year, with funds supporting charitable causes and helping to establish the event as an annual fixture. Organisers have ambitious plans for future expansion, with the vision of growing the festival into a larger multi-day event in years to come, attracting visitors from across Shropshire and beyond.
Richard Morris Whittington Castle Trustee said: “This event represents something very special for the castle and the wider community. We wanted to create an experience that brings people together, celebrates the castle’s heritage, and raises meaningful funds for charity. The firewalk is a powerful symbol of stepping beyond comfort zones for a good cause, and we’re incredibly excited to see it come to life.”
Whittington Castle, a much-loved historical landmark managed by a charitable trust, has long served as a focal point for community events. This new fundraising initiative builds on that legacy while introducing a bold and memorable experience that blends history, entertainment, and charitable impact.
Tickets for the firewalk are available online, with limited spaces to ensure participant safety and the highest quality experience.
