Shropshire County Cricket Club is inviting players to attend an open trial session next month in order to be considered for future involvement in the club’s training and matches.

Shropshire CCC is part of the National Counties Cricket Association (NCCA), formerly Minor Counties.
The club’s First XI compete in NCCA competitions over mixed formats (50 over, T20 and three-day cricket).
Shropshire also has an Academy side that caters for players leaving the age group pathway and who have the skills and desire to progress towards National Counties cricket.
The open trial session will be run at Shrewsbury School’s Indoor Cricket Centre on Sunday, February 15 (2-4pm).
Successful players will then be invited to further winter training opportunities prior to the 2026 season.
Players interested in attending this session must be 18 years of age or older.
They are also required to meet at least one of the following criteria: Live in Shropshire, have been born in Shropshire, play for a cricket club in Shropshire and went to secondary school/college in Shropshire.
During recent years, the NCCA have had a focus on the development of talented local cricketers. One of the governance requirements of NCCA member counties is they need to play at least eight players who are ‘home grown’ and the average age of eight players needs to be under 25.
NCCA competitions are of a high level with aspiring and former professional cricketers involved. Players who are playing a challenging and competitive level of recreational cricket are encouraged to attend the open trial session.
If you wish to attend the open trial, please complete the form via the link below. You will be contacted with confirmation and further details on the session at least a week prior to the session.
