Get ready for a generous helping of mischief, magic, and custard pies as the world’s longest-running children’s TV star prepares to take centre stage in Shropshire.

The Sooty Show has officially announced its 2026 UK tour, with a highly anticipated stop at Shrewsbury’s Theatre Severn on Thursday, 2nd April. The 2.30 pm matinee performance promises to be the highlight of the Easter school holidays for families across the region.
A Star-Studded Line-up
The legendary yellow bear will be joined by his iconic companions, the squeaky Sweep and the sensible Soo. This year’s spectacular is set to be a crowded affair, featuring appearances from fan favourites such as Little Cousin Scampi, Butch the Bulldog, and Ramsbottom the Snake.
To add to the theatrical flair, the gang will be supported by Michael Jordan, known as The Incredible Showman, alongside the vocal talents of Miss Kazia and the whimsical Mr Brown, the Magical Caretaker.
Audiences can expect a variety-style extravaganza featuring jaw-dropping juggling, classic singalongs, and amazing magic. A particular highlight will be the return of the international blacklight speciality act, ‘Fantasie De La Nuit’, who will transport the audience on an enchanting underwater adventure.
A New Chapter for the Sooty Crew
While the show is produced and directed by Richard Cadell, who has steered the Sooty ship for over 25 years, Richard will be taking a brief hiatus from the touring stage this year. He is taking the time to be with his newborn twin sons and to develop an exciting new Sooty project.
Despite his absence from the stage, Cadell guarantees that the 2026 production will be bigger and better than ever, ensuring the magic remains intact for the new generation of fans currently discovering the show on ITVX.
Seventy-Five Years of Magic
Having celebrated his 75th birthday in 2023, Sooty’s popularity shows no sign of waning. A recent Sky TV survey even named Sooty and Sweep the most popular childhood TV characters of all time, beating out decades of competition.
From reading the terms and conditions on Strictly Come Dancing to causing chaos on Michael McIntyre’s Big Show, the gang remains a staple of British culture. For local fans, the Theatre Severn date offers a rare chance to see these icons up close, with a special opportunity to meet a giant Sooty mascot for photos after the final curtain.
