Emergency services were called to a serious collision on the A41 at Higher Heath late on Christmas night, resulting in a complex rescue operation to free trapped occupants.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) received the emergency call at 10.04 pm on Thursday, 25 December. Three fire appliances, including a specialist Rescue Tender, were dispatched to the scene from Prees, Wellington, and Whitchurch stations, supported by an operations officer.

Upon arrival, crews discovered a single vehicle that had left the carriageway and collided with a tree. To reach the casualties, firefighters were required to perform a “roof removal” using heavy-duty Holmatro hydraulic cutters and spreaders.

The extraction was carried out in coordination with the West Midlands Ambulance Service and West Mercia Police, who also attended the scene.

The “stop” message—indicating that the fire service’s involvement had concluded—was issued at 11 pm, though the road remained under the management of the police for investigation and vehicle recovery.
