It’s part of a high voltage supply upgrade being carried out on behalf of Caterpillar Shrewsbury.

The work will be undertaken in phased sections, with the first section taking place within the footway on Whitchurch Road near Morrisons to the junction with Old Heath.

During the first phase of work lane closures will be in place from 5 to 21 January between 8pm and 6am, to enable work to be carried out safely

To help reduce disruption on the primary routes, National Grid has agreed to lay sections of the new cable through the residential streets running adjacent with Ditherington Road and Spring Gardens.

Shropshire Council says a further update on the works within the affected streets will be provided as soon as the dates have been finalised.

Residents and affected businesses will be notified, and advance warning signs will be erected two weeks prior to the works commencing. Notifications will also be provided throughout the different phases of the works.
