Bloor Homes is preparing an outline planning application for the new energy-efficient homes at a site on Wem Road in the north of the village. 15% of the homes are proposed to be provided as affordable housing, including shared ownership homes that would appeal to first-time buyers.

The proposed development would provide landscaped new public open spaces on a site that has previously had no public access, including a community orchard, play area and a network of new walking and cycling routes.

A new pump track is also proposed that will be suitable for year-round use, providing a new facility for young people of all ages to hone their cycle, scooting and skateboarding skills.

With a focus on sustainability, the proposed development would be gas-free, with all homes designed to be net zero carbon-ready, equipped with air source heat pumps, solar panels, uprated insulation and EV charging as standard.

Bloor Homes has launched a consultation website, bloorhomesshawbury.com, where local people can view the plans and provide their feedback.

The plans will also be on display at a consultation drop-in exhibition, taking place at Shawbury Village Hall on Tuesday, 16 December, between 3 pm and 7 pm.

Max Whitehead, Planning Director at Bloor Homes Midlands, said: “Local feedback has an important role to play in helping to shape our outline plans for new homes and outdoor facilities in Shawbury. We are very keen to hear from local people on their aspirations for development in the village, as well as their priorities for investment to support local infrastructure.

“We are delighted to be able to include in our plans a proposed new pump track for Shawbury’s young people. When the Parish Council told us of the challenges preventing them from upgrading the existing grass track in the village, we were very keen to see if we could help with a purpose-built track suitable for year-round use.

“I am delighted that our project team has identified space within the proposed development to accommodate this new facility. Local people can let us know their views either through our consultation website or by coming along to meet us at the village hall.”
