Fabweld Steel Products is holding its annual charity event in Wellington next month in aid of Promise Dreams, which has former Wolves star Steve Bull MBE as its patron.

The event will see ten teams take part in a tournament at Wellington Cricket Club as part of family day of fun and games, led by Madeley-based access cover and drainage specialist FSP.

The company has raised thousands of pounds for charities, including Severn Hospice and Compton Hospice, but has this year teamed up with the Wolverhampton -based charity to help terminally-ill youngsters achieve their dreams and wishes.

Organiser John Tudor, sales manager at FSP, said the event was aiming to raise £10,000 for Promise Dreams and is urging companies and families to come along and support the tournament.

He said: “We’re really excited about the 2011 tournament which will see business, community and sports personalities come together to raise money for a fantastic cause.

“The children helped by Promise Dreams have life-limiting illnesses and they can apply for their dreams to come true, whether that’s something as necessary as needing a breathing monitor or as life-enhancing as swimming with dolphins in the States.

Teams from FSP are so far being joined by teams from the University of Wolverhampton, the Lord Silkin School in Stirchley as well as a team from Promise Dreams which FSP hopes will include some celebrities.

John added: “Some former Wolverhampton Wanderers players are also putting in a team and we’d be delighted to hear from any other teams or companies which would like to support the event, either by putting in a team or supporting the event in other ways.”

“Anyone who has children knows how upsetting it can be when they are poorly, but we can’t imagine what it is like for parents and children coping with serious illness. We’re really thrilled to raising money for Promise Dreams which does amazing work for these children.”

“We know £10,000 is a massive amount of money but we know that our fellow businesses will want to support such a good cause and we hope the community will come along and support us too.
