Warning issued after man calls at properties of elderly residents in Market Drayton

Police have issued a warning after a man was reported to be knocking on the doors of elderly residents in Market Drayton yesterday.

Police say the man was knocking on the doors in the Fairfields Estate area asking to buy jewellery and being particularly persistent in his insistence on entering the property.

Once inside the address nothing was stolen and the male has referred to having to get some cash for items and left. He has stated he would return but has not done so.

The male is described as a white male, about 60 years old, slim build with receding, greying hair wearing a brown/tan jacket and a shirt and tie.

Police say they have ring doorbell footage of the male.

Officers are asking people to be vigilant and not allow anyone into their properties who call under such circumstances.
