The strike was called for by the National Union of Teachers (NUT) and the Association of Teachers and Lecturers (ATL).
The Public and Commercial Services Union will also strike tomorrow over pension changes.
Unions claim proposed changes to public sector pensions will mean they will have to work longer, pay more and get less when they retire.
Disruption is also likely at Shropshire job centres, driving test centres and courts.
The government has condemned the strikes as counterproductive, in Shropshire Council and Telford & Wrekin council are working with schools to provide advice and support, assess the impact and minimise any disruption caused.
