The break-in happened at an address in Burroughs Bank in Lightmoor some time between 7.30am and 5.20pm on Monday.
Thieves forced their way into the premises and carried out a thorough search of the property before stealing an expensive piece of jewellery, cameras, a flat screen television and a games console.
Police are investigating the burglary and are appealing for information.

They especially want to hear from anybody who may have been offered an expensive and unusual sapphire locket style necklace for sale.
A Telford Police spokeswoman said: “Thousands of pounds worth of items was stolen from the property including a sapphire necklace worth around £2,000.
The necklace is described as a 9 carat yellow gold round locket, set with a blue sapphire. The chain is a 9 carat gold 25 inch square diamond belcher link chain.
“The owner is devastated this piece of jewellery has been stolen and is desperate to get it back.
“Thieves also ripped a Samsung 40 inch LED TV off the living room wall, as well as stealing cameras and a Nintendo Wii games console and games.
“Due to the size of the television it is highly likely that there were at least two thieves and possibly a vehicle to carry the goods away.
“The burglary took part during the day so we are appealing to anyone with information to come forward. If you saw a suspicious vehicle, or anyone acting suspiciously in the area then we would like to hear from you.
“It is also highly probable that the thieves will try and sell the stolen property, especially the necklace, either to an individual or a pawn brokers. If you are offered this item, which is very distinctive, then please tell us.
“Police are carrying out their own enquiries, including forensic work, but any information members of the public can provide us with to aid the investigation would be welcomed.â€
