Bridgnorth Walk proves a family affair in the Taylor’s race to £7500

Team Taylor, which is sponsored by local building firm Cornbrook Construction, is taking part in the famous Bridgnorth Walk on Bank Holiday Monday for the third year in a row.

More than 16 individuals are set to complete the 22 mile walk, ranging in age from 56 year-old Rod Richardson to Issie Taylor who is just 11.

The enthusiastic walkers are all linked by local farmer Peter Taylor, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2003.

His daughter Caroline Rochelle wanted to raise money to help the charity Alzheimer’s Research UK and felt her father’s love of the outdoors lent itself perfectly to get his family and friends together for one day to complete the town’s big annual event.

“This has become a real highlight of our year and a great way of bringing everyone together to raise money for a great cause,” explained Caroline.

“The Bridgnorth Walk creates a great vibe and we can get people of all ages and abilities involved, all getting some exercise and all doing something positive to help others.”

She went on to add: “We’ve got family and friends involved and this year all the grandchildren are taking part. Since, 2009 we have raised in excess of £5000 and hope that we can raise another £2500 to smash the £7500 barrier.

“He’s lived here for more than 40 years and loves Bridgnorth and Worfield. This gives us a chance to do something worthwhile for him whilst enjoying picturesque scenery and keeping fit. “

In her day job, Caroline is the Company Secretary for Cleobury Mortimer-based Cornbrook Construction, who support the Walk by providing general sponsorship and providing ‘Team Taylor’ T-shirts.

If any work is secured on the back of involvement in the event, the company has pledged to provide 10% of the project profit to the charity.

A fundraising page has been set-up at www.justgiving.com/teamtaylorwalk for those who want to donate towards Alzheimer’s Research UK.
