The Cock Inn at Hanwood saw their A and B teams face off on the firing point in a match that sees the latter stay at the top of the table after a 11.5 score difference between the two squads.

Ian Brown was the main guy with the singular possible in the match, scoring a 37 to help the B team reach a 179 aggregate on the night. Rich Morgan missed out on his third possible of the season after letting his seventh and final shot go slightly wide. Ted Duckett and Graham Howells from the A Team each landed a great 34.5 beating their seasons average easily.

Condover Social Club played host to the B team from Harlescott Social Club and took the two league points after Rian Pacini scored a scorching 37, with six of his seven shots being 5.5’s and a slight distraction in the middle of his detail meaning he missed out on a maximum or possible. Top shooting. The home team were at a disadvantage after not having five shooters on the night meant that one of the five scores was made up with a default 28, but with the teams being next to each other in the league table it’ll be a close return leg in the new year.

Andy Lawrence and Mike Lewis from the Unison club edged their possible count up to five and four respectively during their match with the A team from Harlescott. Each of them receiving a round of applause from the spectators during the match that saw their consistent shooting beat their opponents by 20 points with a total of 179. John and Dave, the Evans brothers each scored a 32.5 to top the A team’s scoresheet but it wasn’t enough to overcome the rampant Unison.

Red Lion had a tough match against table toppers Breidden Inn with the visitors from Middletown scoring a very respectable 181.5 to beat them by 6 points overall on the night. Top of the “Possible” table after this match with five from six shoots is Tabitha Corbett who banged in a 37. The one possible was far less than expected for a Breidden team who are regularly getting all seven shots through the hole in the centre of the target. Dai Tom Williams, Glyn Jones, Martin Pearce each letting one shot slip whilst Matt Knight did the same on the opposing team. Breidden head to the mid-season break at Christmas as favourites to win the league but Cock B have two matches in hand that might help them catch up.

In the fifth match of the night, Telepost invited a Marchamley team who are on good form to the Abbey Foregate based club. Four of the home side’s shooters dropped a single shot wide of the bull to miss out on possibles but Steve Thomas scored a 36.5 to top his average of 34.7 for the season so far, made more remarkable as he’d removed his spectacles and squinted. Dominic Spenser shot a 34 for the Marchamley team with his wife scoring a credible 30 with someone else’s gun on the evening.
