Residents raised the money by holding raffles at their sheltered housing schemes during the Royal Wedding celebrations.

Severn Hospice of Telford and Help for Heroes, will benefit massively from the money.

Attending a special cheque presentation ceremony, Lynne Fox from Help for Heroes said: “We cannot thank the Trust enough for this kind donation. All of the money raised will go directly into funds for injured service men and women. We rely heavily on donations such as this – it will make a real difference!”

Mike Perry from local charity Severn Hospice who was also at the cheque presentation said: “This is a great amount and we are grateful for the continued support from The Wrekin Housing Trust. The Royal wedding was a great chance for everyone to get together and show their community spirit – the residents of the Trust have clearly demonstrated the positive aspect of this.”

Wendy Bostock, said: “The residents have raised a fantastic amount and I cannot thank them enough for all their hard work and community spirit for this event. Everyone has worked together brilliantly and it has been a real pleasure to be a part of it. Thanks to everyone who helped, contributed and made the day as special as it was.”
