Shropshire Chamber of Commerce has received a defibrillator for its offices at Trevithick House on Stafford Park in Telford, which will also be fully and easily available for all organisations and businesses in the area.

The £1,000 machine was donated by chamber member and international suppliers of emergency medical products, SP Services (UK) Limited of Hortonwood 30, in Telford, whose head of business development Paul Watts, said: “With nearly 60,000 sudden cardiac arrests occurring outside of hospital in the UK every year, this really is a vital piece of equipment to have around.

“Statistics clearly show the importance of these defibrillators when used as soon as possible after a cardiac arrest, to drastically improve survival rates.

“We have chosen this LifePOINT Plus model to provide, because it is robust, portable, lightweight and most importantly very easy to use as it has simple vocal instructions to follow so that anybody can operate it in an emergency.

Chamber chief executive, Richard Sheehan, added: “It is important that people are aware of basic first aid and this defibrillator will be stationed in the reception area of our offices, not only for the welfare and wellbeing of our own staff, visitors and tenants, but it will also be freely available for our many business neighbours.

“As a chamber of commerce we never cease to be amazed by the generosity of the Shropshire business community and we are extremely grateful to Paul and his team at SP Services for this very thoughtful and potentially life-saving donation.”
