Joule’s Brewery opens in Shrewsbury

The pub has had a complete renovation and is back as a traditional locals’ pub after years of neglect.

Steve Nuttall MD Joule’s Brewery said:

“We are delighted to have a Joules Tap in Shrewsbury, our county town. We had been looking at The Bricklayers for about 3 years before we had a chance to buy it from Punch Taverns.

We know this area really well and this is one of the best locations in the town for us. The Bricks used to have a reputation for being a lovely little pub, full of charm and character and the best pint in Shrewsbury. We hope we have restored that gloss and polish to this lovely pub and it will once again be known as the best spot for a quiet pint – Joules of course.”

Joules has worked with North Shropshire Reclamation in Burlton and sourced antique pub tables, mahogany panels which were reclaimed from a country house library, as well as oak panels which have made up the bar front.

Local Joinery Shop ‘Heritage Oak’ based in Aston Rogers handled the joinery lead by master craftsman Colin Smith. The Pub was granted planning consent for a small kitchen extension in January of this year by Shropshire Council.

Joule’s recently re-opened in Market Drayton and brews its famous Pale Ale with Drayton’s famous mineral water.
