
Join the residents of Blists Hill Victorian Town, near Ironbridge on Sunday, 1 May as they mark May Day with much fun and merriment.
May Day marks the middle of spring and was celebrated by the Victorians with music, dancing, feasting and games.
Dress in your finest clothes and join the May Queen as she leads the traditional May Day parade, which departs at 2pm from the centre of the Town. Watch colourful maypole dancing on The Green and be entertained by the Elderly Brothers.
Other activities throughout the day include candle dipping in the Goods Shed using Victorian techniques to make multi-coloured candles to take home; a lesson in the school house at 12noon and a ride on the horse-drawn bus between 1.30pm and 3pm. There’s also a sing-a-long in the New Inn at lunchtime time and during the afternoon.
Open 10am to 5pm Blists Hill is one of the ten Ironbridge Gorge Museums.
