Police are appealing for witnesses after a child was asked to get in a car by a man in Telford.
The ten-year-old boy was walking on Hadley Park Road, Hadley, about 3.25pm last Wednesday when a man in a dark coloured car pulled up next to him.
He called the boy by his first name and told him his dad had asked him to pick him up.
When the boy refused to get into the vehicle he again asked him to get into the car but the boy ran off.
The man was described as white, wearing a red t-shirt. He had tattoos on his inner forearms, had brown hair and was described as “average to fat” in build.
Sgt Dan Taylor said: “We would like to reassure the community that this appears to be an isolated incident.”
“We are providing a visible presence, conducting further patrols and continuing to make further enquiries in the area.”
“We would encourage parents to speak with their children about talking to strangers and would ask children to never go off with anyone they do not know, get into a vehicle with a stranger, accept gifts off a stranger or wander off on their own.”
“We would also urge anyone with any information about the incident to please call us on 101 quoting incident number 482s of the 18th November.”
