A family-run insurance firm in Shropshire, which sponsored a charity award at a county ceremony, has announced the award winner as its next Charity of the Year.
Hope House were crowned Children’s Charity 2015 in the Businesses for Children Awards.
The awards recognise businesses and charities in Shropshire that support, educate or provide activities or products for children aged 0 to 18-years-old.
Beaumont Lawrence, based in Sweetlake Court, Shrewsbury, sponsored the category and director Ben Lawrence said they were delighted when Hope House were announced as the winners.
“All of the finalists in the category were fantastic charities and we were very proud sponsors,” added Mr Lawrence.
“I am a father of three myself and seeing all of the work being done by charities in the county for children from 0 to 18-years-old was a humbling experience. They work so hard to improve the lives of children and I was extremely proud to support the awards that were recognising them.
“We are delighted for Hope House Children’s Hospices as they are such a fantastic charity and very worthy winners.
“We are currently supporting the Severn Hospice, another charity doing great work in the county, and look forward to supporting Hope House from May 2015.”
The awards, held at the Park Inn in Telford on March 14, also recognised shortlisted charities Opportunity Pre-School, Home-Start Telford and Wrekin, The Movement Centre and Empathy for Special Children.
Mr Lawrence said that Hope House Children’s Hospices will now become the Beaumont Lawrence Charity of the Year.
“It is great to raise money for such a wonderful charity and the Beaumont Lawrence directors and staff will look to raise as much as we can over the next 12 months to support the organisation,” he added.
Hope House Fundraising Director Simi Epstein said she was delighted that Beaumont Lawrence had chosen to support the charity’s work.
“For 11 months of every year, we depend completely on donations to fund the vital services we provide to terminally ill local children and their families. Beaumont Lawrence’s support will be a great boost.”
